This is Subrahmanyam Gorthi. Welcome to my web page!
I am working as an Assistant Professor in the Electrical Engineering Department of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) - Tirupati.
Before Joining IIT-Tirupati, I worked as a Chief Engineer in the Health and Medical Equipment (HME) division of Samsung R&D Institute in Bangalore (SRI-B), India, for more than a year. During this period, I have contributed to developing post-processing clinical tools for the detection and prognosis of Dementia, through automated segmentation and analysis of structures in MR brain images.
I worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Harvard Medical School and Boston Children's Hospital for one and half year; I worked in the Computational Radiology Laboratory (CRL) of Prof. Simon Warfield. During this period, I proposed novel multi-atlas fusion methods that could considerably improve the accuracy of automated segmentations in various clinical applications.
I did my PhD in Medical Image Processing at Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (EPFL), Switzerland. My PhD Supervisor is Prof. Jean-Philippe Thiran, head of the Signal Processing Laboratory 5 (LTS5). During my PhD, I have mainly proposed new Markov Random Fields (MRF) based atlas fusion methods, graph-cuts based segmentation methods, and image registration methods.
I did my Masters (MSc(Engg.)) in Computational Science, at Supercomputer Education and Research Centre (SERC), Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore, India. My Masters Supervisors are Dr. Atanu Mohanty and Prof. Anindya Chatterjee. During my Masters, we proposed computational models for analysing the behaviour of electrostatic MEMS devices beyond the well-known pull-in phenomena. I did my Bachelors (BTech.) in Electrical and Electronics, at Nagarjuna University, India.
I am working in the area of Medical Image Processing. To know more about my research activities, explore the rest of the pages available on the top menu!
